{"recordID":"1022","finds":[{"created2":"2000 11 11","description":"Circular umbonate brooch with separate rivet. Raised concentric moulded border at rim edge and at centre; between which is a band of stamped decoration consisting of continuous S's. The central decoration, which is separately made and riveted on, resembles the hub of a wheel. Humped arms or spokes radiate out from a conical boss which rises to a small flattened knob; slightly broken. The face of the disc is gilded and the reverse is white metal plated. The missing spring pin is attached to a single plate. Upper surface badly affected by bronze disease, otherwise in good condition.","notes":"This is an unusual form of disc brooch. Other examples have been noted from Caerwent (Barnett 1954), Lakenheath (British Museum no. 834-46) and Woodcutts, Dorset (Pitt-Rivers 1887, 41 no. 5 pl.
