Excellent condition, slightly uneven patina.<\/p>","notes":"<p>Examples of this form of brooch were most frequently produced in iron and occasionally in silver. Brooches of this form from excavations are generally associated with late 1st century BC cremation burials in south-east England and adjacent parts of Continental Europe. They most frequently occur in pairs, sometimes chained. Several examples were found in the Iron Age cemetery at King Harry Lane, Verulamium (Stead and Rigby 1989, 89 Type B fig. 48).
